MAINE VAWKEE ATOMIC POWER COMPANY Attachnent to MN-82-88 May 4, 1982 AUXILIARY FEEDWATER AUTOMATIC INITIATION AND FLOW ItOICATION la.

Trains A and B at Maine. Yankee are physically and electrically separated according to the separation criteria established in the Maine Yankee FSAR.

lb.

The auxiliary feedwater pump start circuits for Pumps 25A and 25C are physically and electrically separated according to the separation criteria established at Maine Yankee.

The power supply for the Pump 25C start circuit is 125 volt battery 1 (Train A).

The power supply for Pump 25A start circuit is 125 volt battery 3 (Train B).

Ic.

Cable for the two motor driven auxiliary feedwater pumps is physically separated within the auxiliary feedwater pump room according to the Maine Yankee separation criteria.

2a.

The housing limit (52K_) contacts indicate whether the circuit breaker is in the operate position or test position. By procedure, Maine Yankee performs a periodic test to ensure that the pumps are electrically operable.

2b.

Local-Remote Selector Switches 43-P25A and 43-P25C are used to transfer the control point from the main control board to the steam generator emergency panel in the AFR pump room.

The switches are key-locked and administratively controlled.

The switches are designed to be used if evacuation of the control room is required.

2c. The testing of the AFW pump auto start circuit is performed at refueling intervals.

The pump control switches are placed in " Pull to Lock".

The test selector switches are placed'in " Test" to block the auto start signals.

Setpoint and actuation of the auxiliary relays that supply the auto start signal are checked.

This is done for each steam generator and both Train A and Train B.

2d. Switches 1-P25A and 1-P25C are the pump control switches on :.he MCB.

They are G.E. type SBM with contact developments per ll550-ESK-3A, detail "D ".

2e. Relay 27Z actuates upon bus undervoltage.

The contacts from this relay used in the AFW start circuit open.

The 27Z contacts block start of the AFW pump. The pump is loaded onto the diesel generator at the proper time in the loading sequence when contact 62X closes.

2f.

Contacts from Relays 86-P25A and 86-P25C are wired to an annunciator window in the main control board.

This window provides an alarm whenever any AkV motor lockout device (Device 86) is actuated.

The window will stay lit until the lockout relay is reset.

4 MAINE YANKEE ATOMIC POWER COMPANV Attachment to MN-82-88 May 4, 1982 Page 2 3.

The testing of the AFW initiation circuits includes the signal isolators and bistables in the steam generator level channels and the auxiliary relays used in the pump auto start circuits as explained in 2C.

This testing will be performed during each refueling shutdown.

These tests will be included in the Technical Specifications in accordance with Proposed Change #88, Supplement 1, upon receipt of Commission approval.

4.

The Steam Generator Level instruments are powered from vital buses 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Four channels are provided for each steam generator.
