DIABLO NYON DESIGN SPECTRUM At the request of Comissioner Gilinsky we enclose a comparison of the I
originhl design spectrum for Diablo Canyon (DDE, 0.4 g) with one design spectrum used for the Hosgri reanalysis (SSE, 0.75 g reduced by a tau of 0.04 sec).
Thus our enclosure depicts the design spectrum which was deemed applicable by Newmark to the containment structure ( m tural frequency = 4.5 Hz).
The reanalysis design curves of Blume and Newmark are combined such that only the higher of the two at a given frequency is plotted. This is.in accordance with the agreemd'nt between thc staff and the applicant as to how the design spectrum should be formed.
