to discuss allegations concerning construction defects at the LaSalle Station ancLrequest that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission suspend the Unit 1 operating license.

The allegations were contained in four affidavits from four LaSalle Station construction workers.

Included in the allegations were concrete defects, inaccurate construction drawings, lack of material traceability, and disregard for employee safety leading to six construction worker deaths.

Region III (Chicago) received copies of the affidavits on April 28.

The public interest groups calling for license suspension include the Government Accountability Project (Washington, D.C.), The Illinois River Valley Alliance, Citizens Against Nuclear Power (Chicago), and Illinois Friends of the Earth.

The affidavits are being reviewed by Region III and appropriate inspections and investigations will be made following the review.

There has been substantial Chicago and LaSalle area news media interest. Chairman Palladino responded to news media questions on the allegations April 28, following a sp2ech in Chicago. He is planning to meet with news media following a previously scheduled tour of the LaSalle site April 29.
