Dear Mr. Haynes:
A s /.jp s This letter provides supplemental informat on to our letters of March 25, 1981 ( S.
L.
Daltroff, PECo., to B.
H. Grier, NRC) and October, 1981 ( S.
L.
Daltroff, PECo., to R.
C. Haynes, NRC) concerning IE Bulletin 81-01 " Surveillance of Mechanical Snubbers".
The Bulletin required, in part, that a manual test be performed on all safety related snubbers, prior to completion of the next refueling outage with a report of the findings forwarded to the NRC.
As required, these tests were completed on the Unit 2 safety related mechanical snubbers on April 14, 1982.
The results show that all of the Unit 2 mechanical shock suppressors have freedom of motion throughout the entire range of stroke in both tension and compression.
No failures of any kind were i
identified throughout the function test.
Maintenance procedure M-65.10 was completed to document the results of the testing.
This information closes out our response to IE Bulletin 81-01.
Should there be any further questions, please contact us.
Very truly yours, fh cc:
C. J.
