Byron Station Units 1 and 2 Braidwood Station Units 1 and 2 Main Steam System Power Operated Relle f Valves NRC Docket Nos. 50-454, 50-455, 50-456 and 50-457
Dear Mr. Denton:
This is to provide information regarding design changes which have been made to the relief valves on the Byron /Braidwood main steam system.
The review of tnis information should close Confirmatory Issue 26 of the Byron Safety Evaluation Report.
Attachment A to this letter lists the revised FSAR pages which are enclosed.
These revisions indicate that the air operators on the main steam system power operated atmospheric relief valves being replaced with hydraulic operators. This will eliminate dependency on the nonsafety-grade instrument air system and should assure steam generator secondary side pressure control in the event that offsite power is lost.
The enclosed information will be incorporated into the Byron /Braidwood FSAR at the earliest opportunity.
Please address questions regarding this matter to this o f fice.
One signed original and fif teen copies o f this letter and the enclosures are provided for your review.
Very truly yours, T.R. Tramm Nuclear Licensing Department 3978N Odo l' y \\
