Dear Sir:
This letter supplements information :provided in References (b) and (c) regarding the long term improvement program for the scram discharge volume piping and instrumentation at Vermont Yankee.
This plant modification is being designed in accordance with the criteria provided by the G. E. Owners Sub-Group and endorsed by the NRC in Reference (d).
In the course of analysis for this upgrade we have determined that attached piping to the new portion of the system will require additional support for seismic considerations. We plan to install these supports over the next few months, while the plant is operating. This action will facilitate completion of the entire scram system upgrade during the next refueling outage.
We will continue to keep you informed in this matter.
