Docket Nos. 50-282 License Nos. DPR-42 50-306 DPR-60 Unit 2, Cycle 7 As with Unit 1, Cycle 7, we plan to reload Prairie Island Unit 2 with 40 TOPROD assemblies designed by Exxon Nuclear Company. On the basis of current information, we expect to find no unreviewed safety questions or need for Technical Specification changes for operation of Unit 2 in Cycle 7.
At this time we plan to reload and resume operation under the provisions of 10CFR50.59.
As a result of your review of the use of TOPROD, ENC has submitted a Topical report XN-NF-82-21(P), " Application of Exxon Nuclear Company PWR Thermal Margin Methodology to Mixed Core Configurations" in a letter from C. F. Owsley to J. R. Miller dated March 12, 1982. We request that you reference this Topical report on Docket Numbers 50-282 and 50-306.
We expect that NRC will initiate review of this Topical report at an early date such that if any questions arise, they can be resolved well in advance of the Unit 2 outage that is scheduled for early June, 1982.
