Dear Judge Margulies:

This letter is in response to your letter of April 13, 1982, to Messrs. Ward and Hoefling.

Following receipt of your letter, Mr. Ward and I have begun to discuss settlement of the captioned case. We are agreed that if settlement is possible we should be able to reach agreement by May 7, 1982. By your letter to the parties of April 13, 1982, you requested that discovery and hearing schedules be submitted within 10 days. Both parties request an extension of the date set by your letter for submittals through May 7,1982 to further explore the possibility of settlement.

On or before May 7,1982 the parties would either inform you that a settlement agreement was reached (and promptly thereafter submit a formal statement of the agreement for your approval), or propose schedules for discovery and
