The Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards held its 262nd meeting in Washington, Items considered at this meeting are summarized below:

262nd ACRS Meeting The Committee met with representatives of the Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research to discuss the proposed NRC Safety Research Program budget request for The Committee completed its report to the U.S. Congress on the proposed FY 1983.
NRC safety research program submitted by the President for congressional budget-ary action.
A copy of this report has been provided to you.
The Committee met with representatives of the NRC Staff to discuss the proposed approach to dealing with SECY-82-1, Severe Accident Rulemaking and Related Matters, dated January 4,1982.
Committee coments regarding SECY-82-1 have been provided to you.
The Committee approved a memorandum to the EDO providing clarification of ACRS advice offered in recent reports to the Commission regarding the membership of safety review committees at operating nuclear plants. A copy of this memoranda has been provided to you.
The Committee met with you and Commissioners Gilinsky, Bradford, Ahearne, and Roberts to discuss the Proposed NRC Policy Statement on Safety Goals for Nuclear _
Power Plants, SECY-82-1, Severe Accident Rulemaking and related Matters _, and the activities of the Regulatory Refonn Task Force. The Ginna Nuclear Plant steam generator tube rupture of January 25, 1982 was also discussed briefly.
The Committee met with a representative from the NRC Office of Policy Evalua-A tion regarding proposed quantitative safety goals for nuc1 car facilities.
February 4,1982 status report entitled, Proposed Policy Statement on Safety Goals for Nuclear Power Plants was discussed.

February 22, 1982 The Committee met with the Director, OPE, and the NRC Executive Director for Operations to discuss the Commission approved FY 1983-87 Policy and Planning Guidance provided to the NRC Staff for establishing priorities and conducting the regulatory process.
The Committee met with members of the NRC Staff to receive a status report regarding the steam generator tube rupture which occurred at the Ginna Nuclear Plant on January 25, 1982.
