Response To Performance Appraisal Branch Inspection (
Gentlemen:
A response to Perfortrance Appraisal Branch Inspection 81-29 is required to be submitted by Duquesne Light Company on February 5, 1982.
This letter documents our verbal communication with Mr. Wayne Shafer of the Region 2 office whereby we requested an extension in the response date until March 1, 1982.
We requested this additional time in order to prepare our response because of the following factors:
1)
The comprehensive nature of Inspection 81-29, the complexity of the issues involved and our perception of those elements which would comprise effective corrective action will require additional time to provide a responsive reply.
2)
Beaver Valley Unit 1 is presently engaged in a major modification shutdown which has required a substantial amount of attention from key management personnel.
3)
Duquesne Light Company is scheduled to undergo a full scale drill of our Emergency Preparedness Plan for the Federal Emergency Management Agency on February 17, 1982.
Preparation for this drill has likewise placed an additional work load on key management personnel.
