Dear Mr. Regan:

Enclosed please find a package of information sup-plementing the materials previously sent to you from GPU in support of the NRC Staf f's preparation of an environmental assessment concerning the psychological impact of restarting TMI-1.

The first enclosure is the outstanding information

in response to economic (forecast) question four provided to GPU at the February 26, 1982 meeting with the Staf f in Bethesda.

The schedules provided support GPU's estimate of the cost of TMI replacement energy for the period of April 1979 through December 1981.

As the schedules show, TMI replacement energy was assumed to come predominately from coal-fired, non-PJM utilities at a cost (including demand and transmission charges) of 30 to 35 mills.

This compares with a TMI nuclear fuel cost of 3 to 4 mills.

The balance of the replacement energy was assumed to be supplied by a combination of oil and coal-fired PJM sources, as computer studies have indicated that, compared to outside purchases, hg :L F.,P GPU's internal generation is not a significant source of replacement energy.
