Dear Mr. Palladino:
hD, J
7 The enclosed resolution was unanimously n
y the East Hampton Town Board on March 19, 1982.
The Town is deeply disturbed about the lack of concern evidenced by the Commission and the Shoreham Licensing Board regarding the need to evacuate eastern Long Island in the event of a serious reactor accident.
As you know, people residing on the North and South Forks of the Island would have to pass through the NRC's generator 10 mile Emergency Planning Zone in order to escape a radiation plume-- a situation which we believe does not exist at any other U.S. reactor.
Shoreham deserves your most careful scrutiny f rom the standpoint of evacuation and emergency planning.
Your early response to our concern would be greatly appreciated.
Respectfully, LARRY CANTWELL Councilman CCs:
Lawrence Brenner, Esq.
Herbert Brown, Esq.
County Executive Peter F. Cohalan Villiam Richards, Pres.0fficer Co. Legis.
Gregory Blass, County Legislator 06
