PROPOSED IMPOSITION OF CIVIL PENALTIES - $500 This is to inform the Commission that a Notice of Violation and Propos-Imposition of Civil Penalties in the amount of Five Hundred Dollars ($500) will be issued to Salisbury Engineering, Inc., Griffith, Indiana on or about April 8, 1982. This action is based on the licensee's failure to maintain constant surveillance and innediate control over a nuclear moisture-density gauge containing licensed radioactive material.
In addition, the licensee permitted access to licensed material by unauthorized ind1viduals and failed to evaluate film badge results.
It should be noted 6 hat the licensee has not been specifically informed of the enforcement action. The schedule of issuance and notification is:
Action Signed April 5,1982 Mailing of Notice April 8, 1982 Telephone Notification of Licensee April 8, 1982 A news release has been prepared and will be issued five days following mailing of the Notice of Violation. The State of Indiana will be notified.
The licensee has 30 days from the date of the Notice in which to respond.
Following NRC staff evaluation of the response, the civil penalties may be remitted, mitigated, or imposed by Order.
