IP Letter 9/18/81 (U-0290) L. J. Koch to H. R. Denton, NRC Clinton Power Station Unit 1 Docket No. 50-461 The reference (1) letter provided the NRC licensing schedule for the Clinton Power Station and requested quarterly update reporting on the status of construction completion.
This is an update on the Clinton Unit 1 construction schedule as re-ported to you by the reference (2) letter.
Illinois Power Company is required by the Illinois Com-merce Commission (ICC) to file monthly status reports on the Clinton project.
In our latest filing with the ICC, dated March 31, 1982, the company reported that the design and in-stallation of the Control Rod Drive (CRD) System is causing a 148 day proj ected delay to fuel load.
The vendor continues to experience delays to the completion of design work due to chang-ing load requirements.
Illinois Power Company and the architect engineer have assigned engineering personnel to the vendor's office to coordinate and expedite the design work.
CRD work areas have been cleared of all other construction forces so that maximum effort can be placed on the CRD system by the supplier.
Despite these efforts, we anticipate further delay.
The stop work order issued January 15, 1982 on all safety related electrical cable tray installation is still in effect.
A plan which will result in lifting of the stop work order has been developed and implemented, but the stop work order will not be lifted for several weeks.
