Dea r Mr. Keppler:

The purpose of this letter is to provide a revised status o f the Crosby SRV Solenoid Valve 10 CFR 50.55(e) report as committed to in Reference (a) .

As described in Re ference (b), the final resolution to the Crosby Solenoid Valve qualification problem was pursued in parallel paths; one included modification of the collet / yoke assembly and the other was to provide a qualified Crosby Solenoid. The qualification of the Crosby Solenoid has not been completed nor has the material been delivered to the job site. Since this is considered to be the long term solution, the following installation schedule has been established:

Unit 1 - ADS-SRV's - Interim fix in accordance with Reference (a) has been completed Unit 1 - Remaining SRV's - Testing to assure acceptance criteria is met has been completed Unit 1 - All SRV's - Long term fix (installation o f qualified Crosby Solenoid) prior to startup following first refuel outage Unit 2 - All SRV's - Long term fix prior to heatup.

yoke assembly installed in them. This modification and the manufac-turer's testing to 1EE 323 (1971) standards qualifies these valves for plant operation until further testing to NUREG 0588 requirements is completed under Commonwealth Edison Company's Equipment Qualifi-cation program.
