Fermi 2 Schedule - Docket No. 50-341 On March 26, 1982, Detroit Edison representatives met with the NRC to discuss the difference in the fuel loading date for Fermi 2 as estimated by the NRC and as projected by Detroit Edison.
Based on those discussions and based also on Detroit Edison's most recent detailed analysis of the fuel loading schedule, the following points were made and agreed upon.
1.
Detroit Edison is devoting resources and working toward a fuel load date of November 1982 which is presently projected by the company to be 26 weeks late, a reduction from the 43 weeks late reported in September 1981.
Unless further improvements are made in the present projection, a fuel load date of approximately June 1, 1983 would result.
2.
Detroit Edison will report to the NRC any significant improve-ments or further delays in the fuel load schedule.
3.
At this time, the NRC assumes a fuel load date of December 1983, thereby resulting in a six-month difference between their estimate and that of Detroit Edison.
4.
In August,1982, the NRC will send a team to Fermi for a re-evaluation of the fuel load date and will make a detailed review of Edison's schedule on a system-by-system basis.

For its purposes, the NRC will report Edison's projected Fermi 2 fuel load date and will footnote such reporting by referencing this letter and noting that Edison is taking steps to try to further reduce the negativity in the projected schedule.
6.
It is our understanding that the NRC will continue its review of Fermi and will not re-allocate its resources in a manner that would delay Edison's licensing efforts.
We very much appreciate our meeting with Mr. Tedesco and his staff concerning this matter.
