Units 1 and 2 Docket Nos. 50-416 and 50-417 File 0260/15601 NUREG-0654 Table B-1 Staffing Requirements AECM-82/59 Supplement No. I to the Safety Evaluation Report (SER), NUREG-0831, for Grand Gulf Nuclear Station (GGNS) indicates that the only open item remaining in the GGNS Units 1 and 2 Emergency Plan i the 30-60 minute staffing augmentation as outlined in NUREG-0654, Tabie B-1.

This issue is addressed in the supplement and the SER as Outstanding Issue, Item 1.9(14).

We have reviewed Table 5-1, " Shift Staffing and Augmentation Capabilities," of the Emergency Plan against NUREG-0654, and in light of the experience gained as a result of our successful emergency preparedness exercise in November, 1981, a revised Table 5-1, which will be included in the next revision to the Emergency Plan, is attached to this letter. We feel that the new Table 5-1 accurately reflects the staffing and augmentation capabilities of GGNS in the event of an emergency, and that it complies with the guidance in NUREG-0654.

Submittal of this information should close this open item.

If you have any questions, please advise.

Yours truly,

/
