Dear Mr. MacDonald:

os N

The referenced letter requests additional information be supplied prior to March 23, 1982 concerning our relicensing effort on the CNS 4-45 shipping cask.

Subsequently, meetings were held to determine the amount of manpower and resources needed to adequately respond to the questions.

Chem-Nuclear Systems has made a decision to voluntarily remove the cask from active l

service until such time as further evaluations of cask usefulness can be l

made.

We, therefore, respectfully request that the Ce'rtificate of Compliance be allowed to expire. The 4-45 shipping cask will be removed from our cask fleet on March 22, 1982.

If you should have any questions regarding this matter, please denot I f u l
