Dear Ms. Adensam:

In the Matter of

)

Docket Nos. 50-327 Tennessee Valley Authority

)

50-328 In a TVA/NRC meeting on April 1, 1981, NRC requested TVA to submit a seismic margin program plan and a list of components to be investigated for Sequoyah Nuclear Plant (SNP) units 1 and 2.

Also, the SNP unit 1 operating license condition 2.C(6) requires TVA to " submit the results of the seismic design margin review conducted in accordance with an NRC approved seismic design margin review program."

TVA cocplied with NRC's request for a seismic margin program by submittal of the May 5,1981 letter from L. M. Mills to A. Schwencer, outlining the program and a schedule for completion of the reevaluation program. TVA completed the reevaluation of the SNP safety-related equipment seismic qualification for the site specific (84th percentile earthquake) criteria by the January 2, 1981 target date provided in our May 5, 1981 submittal.

The results of the review program have shown that the seismic qualification of all safety-related electrical and mechanical equipment posseses sufficient margin to envelop the higher level 84th percentile criteria.

As discussed with Carl Stahle of your staff in a conference call on February 22, 1982, TVA plans to meet with the NRC during the month of March 1982 to discuss the details of our seismic review program. This response satisfies the SNP unit 1 operating licase condition 2.C(6).

Very truly yours, TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY k
