By your letter to me dated April 26, 1993 you provided coments from the ACRS regarding the NRC Staff's forthcoming Regulatory Guide that is intended to l
provide implementation guidance for the maintenance rule. The Regulatory i
Guide was modified in response to your coments.
Specifically, with respect to your coment concerning the use of NUMARC's trigger values to demonstrate reliability of emergency diesel generators (EDGs), a footnote was added to the discussion section to indicate that the triggers are intended to indicate when a problem likely exists and that further action would be appropriate if the triggers are exceeded.
A sentence was added to the discussion section to indicate that plant management should be aware and have control of maintenance activities in the switchyards that directly affect plant operations.
The final regulatory guidance (Regulatory Guide 1.160 and NUMARC 93-01) is enclosed.
In accordance with our directions from the Comission, we. intend to publish Regulatory Guide 1.160, that references NUMARC_93-01, by June 30, s
