SUBJECT:

DELETION OF MAJOR MILESTONE 5702-031-020-001, RRT COMPILATION REPORT The purpose of this memorandum is to formally request that the subject major milestone for the Regulatory Requirement Topic (RRT) Compilation report, due June 30, 1993, be deleted from the CNWRA's FY93-94 Operating Plan. This request is a followup to my discussions of our revised plans with P. Mackin during the week of June 21, 1993. Until recently this milestone was to be rescheduled to be consistent with our schedule for completing the License Application Review Plan (LARP), Revision 0.

However, recent discussions resulted in the NRC staff deciding to simplify the LARP development work for the remainder of FY 93.

My decision to delete the subject report is based on the following reasons.

The joint ucrk by NRC and the CNWRA on the Structural Task Force resulted in a revised RRT5 which have been incorporated into the February 1993 internal draft of LARP, Revision 0.

The subject RRT report was to document a final set of RRTs.

However, some of the RRTs have been revised during the preparation of Compliance Determination Strategies-(CDSs).

Recently, NRC decided it woul_d be more efficient to incorporate the revisions to the RRTs from the CDS work directly into the LARP and avoid the additional cost of preparing a separate report.

Furthermore, this approach helps to simplify and streamline the I

schedule of activities needed for LARP publication and should contribute to meeting our overall LARP publication schedule.
