Dear Mr. Huddleston:
This is in reply to your June 7, 1993, letter to the Transportatibn Branch about obtaining a modified certificate of compliance for the Model Nos.100, 100A, 200, and 200A packages (Certificate of Compliance No. 9127). The certificate of compliance for-this package design is held by Amersham Corporation; therefore, it will be necessary to obtain a new certificate of compliance for the modified package design.
You may do this by submitting a stand alone application which is full and complete and shows that the package-with the new lock meets the requirements of 10 CFR Part 71. Compliance with.
the regulations may be shown by analysis or testing.
Results of tests performed on the current package may be use'd to the extent that those' tests are applicable to the proposed design changes.
In lieu of further testing, you must be able to show by analysis-that the new lock including the means of attachment is at-least as. substantial as 'the. current lock.
In thir. regard you should recognize that the lock on the Model No.
IR-100 package was approved for a package weighing 53 pounds while you'are planning to use this lock on a package _ weighing approximately 500 pounds.
