%l, July 20, 1993 Docket Nos. 50-327 q

and 50-328 i

Tennessee Valley Authority ATIN:

Dr. Mark 0. Medford, Vice President i

Technical Support 3B Lookout Place

i 1101 Market Street Chattanooga, Tennessee 37402-2801

Dear Dr. Medford:

SUBJECT:

TVA CORRECTIVE ACTION PLAN DEVIATION 223.03-SQN-01, SEQUOYAH NUCLEAR PLANT UNITS 1 AND 2 (TAC N05. M76941 AND 1

J M76942)

By letter dated April 15, 1991, we forwarded our evaluation of various.

I submittals from the Tennessee Valley Authority.'(TVA) describing the Employee Concerns Special Program (ECSP) process for deviating from a correct.ive action plan (CAP).

The only CAP deviation that was found to be unacceptable for Sequoyah was the deviation for Corrective Action Tracking Document (CATD) 223.03-SQN-01, " Seismic Adequacy of Field-Mounted Instruments." This finding was based on TVA letter dated June 8, 1990, which described the deviation, but did not provide justification for the deviation.

By letter dated July 7, 1993, TVA withdrew the deviation and described the actions'that have been taken to address the CATD.

The staff recognizes that by withdrawing the deviation, TVA will take the necessary action to address the original CAP.

It is requested that TVA provide a schedule for completion of the original CAP to the staff. This action closes TAC Nos. M76941 and M76942.

Sincerely, Original signed by David E.'LaBarge, Senior, Project Manager Project Directorate 11-4.
