SUBJECT: NRC Inspection No. 50-354/93-19

An announced inspection of the radiological controls progmm at the Hope Cmek Nuclear
Generating Stations was conducted by Mr. R. L. Nimitz during the period June 15-17, 1993.
The findings of the inspection were discussed with Mr. R. Hovey and other members of your
staff on June 17, 1993.

Area reviewed during the inspection were imponant to health and safety and am fully discussed
in the enclosed inspection repon. The areas reviewed included organization and staffing; audits
and assessments; ALARA contmls and performance; external and internal exposum controls;
radioactive material and contamination control; implementation of the revised 10 CFR Pan 20;
and station housekeeping.
The inspector determined that, within the scope of this inspection, very good radiological
controls wem implemerted at Hope Creek Station. No safety concerns or violations wem
identified. Isolated examples of apparent ingestion by personnel of snack food in the Reactor
Building, a radiological controlled area, was identified. Your staff initiated a review of this
matter.
