Request for Modification of the Cintichen Decommissioning Plan In response to a recomendation of Mr. Thamas Dragoun in his June ' 21,1993 inspection report for combined inspection #50-54/93-01 and #70-687/93-01 section #3, we are requesting an anendment.to our decmmissioning plan..
Table 7.1 of the Cintichen Decommissioning Plan, October 1990, specifies that a gamma isotopic analysis be performed on weekly air particulate filters. We request that this be changed to:
Perform gross beta analysis on each weekly particulate sample.
If any sample results in any activity which corresponds to over 0.5%
of the most restrictive MIC of isotopes potentially present, a gamma isotopic analysis will be performed on that sample. -
In addition, a quarterly camposite of all weekly samples for each sampling location shall have a gamma isotopic analysis.
Justification for this request is that (1) this gross analysis can detect elevated concentrations when and if only pure betas are present, and (2) our current counting time, detector background and sample collection times results in an MDA less than this criteria.
