TELEPHONE CONVERSATION WITH OFFICER LINDA FEATHERSTON, HOMER POLICE DEPARTMENT I spoke with Ms.Featherston on the subjects of Homer's current public safety resources, and the impact of the CEC facility. The current number of officers is 9 (as opposed to 10, Section 3.6.2.2),
but one more officer is expected to be hired in the near future.
She also confirmed the number of patrol cars (5).
Regarding the current crime situation vis a vis their resources, she explained that theirs is a high-crime area (Claiborne Parish), with a high number of robberies and burglaries associated with a severe " crack" problem. Of ficer Featherston stressed that Homer's present resources are barely enough to cope with their crime problem, and that any increase in population or commuter-workers caused by the CEC f acility would severely strain their resources.
