Dear Mr. Chernoff:
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff has reviewed the Project Interface Document (PID) Number 09-S-17 (Class I) for the Mexican Hat, Utah, Uranium Mill Tailings Remedial Action Project, transmitted to us by your letter dated June 8, 1993. This PID proposes design changes concerning the durability of permanent site drainage and erosion protection features near the disposal cell. The proposed changes were discussed during our November 5, 1992, site visit meeting and have been reviewed as part of our ongoing Remedial Action Plan review. Based on this review, the NRC staff concurs in PID Number 09-S-17.
