The Commission (with.all. Commissioners 1 agreeing) has' approved the staff.. proposal to (1)- conduct additional public scoping. meetings i
on the Generic Environmental,' Impact Statement"(GEIS) for the enhanced-participatory rulemaking on radiological. criteria for decommissioning and (2)' inform workshop participants'and the! _.
J" public of'thejavailability of the. draft radiological.. criteria for-decommissioning'that-'will.be-submitted to AgreementiStates for review.
The staff should, however, maintainLtheLcurrant. schedule

a for providing_the proposed rule and supporting documents.to the-i
' Commission,:as. described.in Attachment.2 to.the_ subject paper.
In light of.the need'to maintain the current schedule, the- '
Commission di'sagrees>with the advisability-'.of further extension' of the period _for comments from-the rulemaking workshops.

time can'be saved'in.that, due to the ' narrowing. of: the charter -
3 for the Advisory Committee on Nuclear Waste 5(ACNW),rthis particular rulemaking package need not be. submitted for ACNW'-
