Dear Sirs:

On June 29, 1993, counsel for Georgia Power Company ("GPC") ,

and counsel for the NRC Staff began discussions of GPC's concerns with the NRC Staff's responses, served on June 18 and 24, 1993, to GPC's May 3, 1993 Fi Documents by NRC Staff.{st SomeRequest progress for thewas Production made towards of resolving GPC's concerns and GPC and the NRC Staff agreed to continue discussions with respect to those documents sought by GPC which the Staff is withholding. Until those discussions are concluded, GPC counsel agreed that it would not file a motion to compel the production of documents from the NRC Staff. In ,

return, counsel for the Staff agreed to an extension of GPC's I time to file such a motion to compel until a reasonable period of j time following the completion of such discussions. I On June 30, 1993, counsel for GPC and the NRC Staff contacted Judge Bloch to relate the foregoing understanding.

Judge Bloch stated that he agreed to a flexible extension of GPC's time to file a motion to compel production of documents from the NRC Staff provided Intervenor did not object. I then contacted Intervenor's counsel and related my understanding with the NRC Staff and our discussions with Judge Bloch. Intervenor's 1

Counsel for the NRC Staff also indicated that it would be l providing GPC with a further supplement to its responses within i the next week or two.
