Dear Mr. Chairman:
1 Public Law 97-415, enacted on January 4,1983, amended Section 189 of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954 to authorize the fluclear Regulatory Commission to issue and make immediately effective any amendment to an operating license upon a determination by the Commission that such amendment involves no significar.t hazards consideration, notwithstanding the pendency before the Commission of a request for a hearing.
In addition, the legislation requires the Commission to periodically (but not less frequently than once every 30 days) publish notice of any amendments issued, or proposed to be issued, under the new authority above.
Enclosed for your information is a copy of the Commission's Biweekly flotice of Applications and Amendments to Operating Licenses involving no significant hazards considerations, which was published in the Federal Reaister on June 9, 1993 (58 FR 32375).
