SUBJECT: INITIAL EXAMINATION REPORT NO. 50-213/93-05 (OL)
.
During the week of April 26 . 30,1993, the NRC administered initial examinations to twelve
employees of your company who had applied for licenses to operate the Haddam Neck Plant.
The examinations evaluated knowledge and abilities important to safety, and were conducted
. in accordance with NUREG-1021, " Operator Licensing Examiner Standards," Rev 7.
The results of the examinations were that all six senior reactor operator and five of six
reactor operator candidates passed all exam sections and were issued licenses. One reactor.
operator candidate failed the written examination and was denied a license. Details of exam .
grading and generic strengths and weaknesses are discussed in the enclosed report. Of note
was the higher than expected incidence of minor errors in execution of Emergency Operating
Procedures made by senior reactor operator candidates.
