20555 Dear Mr. Selin; I am writing to strongly oppose NRC approval of an application to build a uranium enrichment facility in Homer, Louisiana.
The citizens of the area strongly oppose siting a plant in their area and I suspect that siting a facility there despite their opposition is a case of environmental racism..
I urge that you investigate this contention.
Contamination of drinking water might occur for the families near the plant; proliferation of highly enriched uranium is possible; and currently DOE enrichment plants are only operating at fifty percent capacity, making construction of a private.
plant unnecessary.
1 Please deny an application to build a plant by Louisiana Energy Services near Forest Grove and Center Springs and affirm the community's right to decide on the plant and spare the environment possible radiation accidents, contamination, and nuclear waste hazardous for millions of years.
