Dear Congressman Klink:

This is in response to your letter, dated April 14, 1993 to Dr. Ivan Selin, Chairman of the NRC regarding a letter you received from Berthold Systems concerning proposed NRC regulation 57FR 56287, " Requirements for Accessible Air Gap for Generally Licensed Devices."

We have received Berthold Systems' letter providing comments to the above referenced regulation.

Berthold Systems' comments have been docketed along with the other comments we received regarding this regulation.

Berthold's comments, and our response, will be evaluated and published in the Federal Register, along with our responses to all the comments we received.

We do agree that consistency among the Agreement States and NRC is important.

This regulation will be discussed with the Agreement States during the annual Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors meeting on May 20, 1993.
