May ll, 1993 The Honorable Slade Gorton United States Senate Washington, DC 20510-4701
Dear Senator Gorton:
In response to your April 22, 1993 letter to Dennis Rathbun, the U.S.
Nuclear Regulatory Commission does not provide Federal funding to Native Americans.
NRC's Office of State Programs does, however, interact with interested Native Americans on a government-to-government basis.
Mr. Carlton Kammerer, Director, Office of State Programs, described NRC's interactions with Native Americans in his February 1, 1990 letter to Roger Walke, Congressional Research Service.
You enclosed a copy of his letter with your request.
Should you have any further questions regarding NPC's program with Native Americans, please contact me.
Sincerely, f
