Dear Mr. Chernoff:

We have reviewed Project Interface Document (PID) 05-S-56, dated May 10, 1993.

The Class I PID addresses the proposed reconfiguration of the tailings embankment top slope, and the addition of a transition zone between contaminated materials and the radon barrier at the Grand Junction Uranium Mill Tailings Remedial Action Project site.

Based on review by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff, we concur in DOE's proposed changes as described in the PID.
