.1 MODIFICATION NO. 2 0F TASK 20 Technical Support for the Rulemaking for the Certificate of Compliance for Pacific Sierra Nuclear SAIC has provided technical assistance to the NRC in the review of the application from Pacific Sierra Nuclear for a Certificate of Compliance for a spent fuel storage system. This support was provided under Task 9 (the bulk of the technical review), Task 18 (CRGR meeting support), and Task 20 (Rulemakingsupport).
As a result of the rulemaking, the Lake Michigan Federation and Attorney General of Michigan have filed suite with the United States District Court for Western Michigan against the NRC to prevent the use of VSX-24 cask system at Palisades.
In anticipation of a possible hearing or examination in court, the NRS requires additional technical assistance from SAIC to prepare responses to technical issues that may be forthcoming.
The estimated level of effort for this modification is one staff month. All technical direction will be made in writing by the NRC Project Officer. The personnel that.ill be performing this work should be the same individuals that performed the review of the PSN application.
