Personnel Dosimetry This letter is in reference to your letter dated April 22,1993, in which you request approval to delete the requirement to supply personnel monitoring equipment from your referenced license.
After speaking with Craig McNally, the environmental engineer at your finn, we have '
determined that the level detector that your finn uses is covered under a general license as specified in the registry of radioactive sealed sources and device cenificate No: NR-504-D-109-G. This certificate includes Nuclear Research Model SH 302-1200 (SH302 series) containing 1200 millicuries of cesium-137 that your firm uses.
The users of these devices are required to comply with the provisions of 10 CFR 31.5.
For your infonnation,10 CFR Part 19 covers " Notices, Instructions and Reports to Workers:
Inspection and Investigations," 10 CFR Pan 20 covers " Standards for Protection Against Radiation," and 10 CFR Part 21 covers "Reponing of Defects and Noncompliance."
Copies of these sections are enclosed for your convenience.
