Dear Mr. Corcoran:
Thank you for your May 4,1993 letter informing Mr. James Joyner of the U. S.
Nuclear Regulatory Commission Region I office that the Massachusetts Highway l
Department (MHD) plans to lease out the Wellesley maintenance and traffic.
depot. Also, we have been informed by the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Plant licensee that the Massachusetts Highway Department's schedule calls for relocating the depot staff by December 1993 and terminating depot availability for reception center use at the end of December 1993.
It is also our understanding that the selection and staffing of a replacement reception center and its incorporation in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts radiological emergency response plan is in process.
The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) is the lead office for the Commonwealth on this issue, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has the federal lead for reviewing and accepting the Commonwealth's resolution..To further assure that interested parties are aware of the-leasing plan, I am providing.
