This replies to your undated letter which-was received in this office on April 20.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is an independent agency _
established to see that, if nuclear energy'is used for civilian purposes in this country, there is reasonable assurance that'the public health and safety, the environment and the common ~ defense and security are protected.
I am enclosing a copy of a fact sheet which will give you a better idea of.the agency's responsibilities.

Western Wayne School District. South Canaan. PA, I have been assigned I
to put together a Science Scrapbook as part of my Science Class.
This scrapbook is to include information related to Science. Health.
Nature and the Environment, and Medicine.
I would appreciate any free information (pamphlets, booklets, etc.) that you would have related to these areas.
