Dear Mr. Selin:

I am writing to you in regards to Louisiana Pmrgy Services' plans to build an uranium erdchment plant near the communities of Forest Grove and Center Springs. I urge for you to deny LES' application.

It is my underd-~hg that such a facility would produce 4,000 tons of radioactive uranium-238 annually. Polhdod water would be discharged into the Lake Claiborne watershed. Forty families rely on wells for their water. Additionally, the community's elderly residents are concerned for their safety in case of an accidental Uranium hexaflouride discharge, seeing how difficult it would be for them to evacuate.

In sum, the enrichment pisnt would seriously jeopardize the health of the citizens ofnoarby Forest Grove and Center Springs who do not want the plant in their cou mmity.

I am also concemed by the implications of Louisiana Energy Services' choice to construct the plant in an area so heavily populated by impoverished blacks. While them is no clear M-*h that the region's racial makeup was taken into consideration, it would seem that the u'ility might benefit by this decision if the residents to not have the H=mM resources to fight it.

Please do not approve Louisiana Energy Services application. I thank you for your atlantion to this matter.
