Waterford 3 SES Docket No. 50-382 License No. NPF-38 Annual Report On C-E ECCS Codes And Methods For 10CFR50.46 Gentlemen:
This submittal is being made in accordance with 10CFR50.46 in that there has been a change during the year 1992 in the computers used by Combustion Engineering (CE) for their loss Of Coolant Accident (LOCA) methods, which resulted in a slight effect on the calculated peak cladding temperature (PCT) of Waterford 3 fuel. The change involved the' conversion.of the codes used for LOCA analyses from the CDC mainframe computer to HP/ Apollo computer workstations.
The difference in numerical precision between the computers increased the calculated PCT for a large break LOCA by 0.26 F.
A copy of CENPD-279, Supplement 4 (dated April,1993), entitled " Annual Report On C-E ECCS Codes And Methods For 10CFR50.46," is attached, which addresses the year 1992 changes that are discussed above.
