Commonwealth Edison (CECO) would like to thank you for meeting with us and presenting the SALP 11 Report on May 18,1993, as well as affording us the opportunity to provide our views on the SALP results.

CECO appreciates the NRC's recognition of excellent performance in the areas of Plant Operation, Radiological Controls, Maintenance / Surveillance, Emergency Preparedness, Security, and Safety Assessment / Quality Verification. We are very pleased with the NRC's acknowledgement of the continued and dedicated efforts to achieve a high level of excellence in the performance of the management and stafr at Byron Station. Every effort will be made to continue this high level of performance.

As acknowledged in your report, the Engineering /rechnical Support area has improved. We believe CECO has made significant progress in this area. The development of the Site Engineering Group will further contribute to the positive progress in this area. We are confident that continued commitment to improvement will further enhance future progress.
