As noted in the February 1993 issue of the HFES Bulletin, organizations i
interested in participating in the review of the revised ANSI /HFS 100-1988 should contact the ANSI /HFES 100 Canvass Committee.
On behalf of the Human Factors Assessment Branch staff (HHFB) at the U.S.
Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), I would like to express my. staff's strong j
interest in participating in the review process.- For your information, the 1
HHFB staff, numbering over a dozen human factors professionals, is currently l
engaged in evaluation of several advanced control room designs for the next generation of nuclear po.<er plants. As part of these ongoing evaluations, the j
staff has applied many human factors guidelines'and industry standards, including ANSI /HFS 100-1988. The insights gained from working with these the j
documents on complex process control design issues ~ have been quite useful, and have aided the staff in the development of a human factors program review model to support these evaluations. Therefore, I believe both the HHFB staff and the ANSI /HFES 100 Canvass Committee would benefit from the NRC's participation on the review committee.
