Louisiana Energy Services has applied to construct a uranium enrichment plant in Homer, Louisiana. I urge you to advise the I
NRC licensing board to deny their application. The local
[
communities of Forest Grove and Center Springs are adamantly l
opposed to having the the LES plant near them. The plant will pollute the Lake Claiborne watershed. In addition, the DOE's l
enrichment plants are operating at 50% of capacity, and there is i
already a worldwide overcapacity for producing enriched uranium.
Finally, I encourage you to evaluate the issue of environmental i
racism and the role it may have played in LES' decision to locate the plant so near to two small African-American communities..
