I urge you to advise the NRC licensing board to-DENY the Louisiana.
Energy Service's (LES) application to construct a-uranium.
.i enrichment facility in Homer, Louisiana.

Folluting water from the plant will be discahrged into Lake Claiborne watershed.
40 homes within 5 miles of the f acility' rely onwells for their drinking water.
A retirement community surrounds l
the shores of Lake C1alborne.
Uranium hexafIouride (UF6) mixes j
with air to create toxic hydrogen fluoride.
Elderly residents living near'the plant are without transportation and are concerned about how rapidely they can flee the area in case of accidental UF6 discharge.
l Recent studies done in various parts of the US indicate that an overwhelmingly disproportionate number of toxic waste
- sites, incinerators, and hazardoun chemical and industrial operations are 1
sited in poor, minority com. unities.

by the United Church of Christ's Commission for Racial Justice I
