Dear Mr. Selin:

I am concerned about the plans of Louisiana Energy Services (LES) to build a uranium enrichment plant near two low-income, predominantly black communities in rural Inuisiana. The communities of Forest Grove and Center Springs are vehemently opposed to the plant, which would convert natural uranium into fuel for nuclear reactors and discharge pollutants into a nearby watershed. The communities and a coalition of national and regional groups

have denounced this project as yet another example of a natiomvide pattern of siting hazardous waste dumps and dangerous industry in poor, disadvantaged communities.

Another nuclear waste site is not what anyone needs in their backyard.

I urge you to advise the NRC licensing board to deny ll!S's application to construct a uranium enrichment facility in Ilomer. Louisiana.
