Dear Mr. Selin,
j i am writing to let you know of my opposition to the construction of the United States' first privately I
owned uranium enrichment plant in Homer, Louisiana. I urge you to advise the NRC licensing board to deny LES' application to construct this facility.
I'm sure you already know that the local communitites of Forest Grove and Center Springs are adamantly opposed to having the LES plant lo-cated in their backyard. The negative social and environmentalimpacts that the plant will have on the area are enormous.
j Studies indicate that an overwhelmingly disproportionate number of toxic waste sites, incinerators.-
and hazardous chemical and industrial operations are sited in poor, minority communities. Please take a close look at the issue of environmental racism and the role that it might have played in de-ciding to site the plant so near to the two small black communities.
