Dear Mr. Selin:
I am writing to express concern about the proposed location of a uranium enrich-ment center in Homer, Louisiana by Louisiana Energy Services (LES). I am asking that you deny the application for construction of this project. It is my un-derstanding that this plant will produce about 4,000 tons of radioactive waste annually and that the plant is to be located near two small communities which have limited access and that have expressed adamant disapproval of the loca-tion of this project in their community. The fact that these are low-income pre-dominately black communities also concerns me in that these types of areas seem to be the site of more than their share of these kinds of facilities.
There are other points of concern, also. One is the actual need for uranium enrichment processing in the first place. It is my understanding that we now have an oversupply of enriched uranium. The second is that the centrifuges used in this process are the same kind that are part of an investigation into their use in Iraq for nuc! ear weapons.
It is my hope that you will not allow this type of construction to be allowed and that you will do all within your authority to assure that our country and our world are returning to a safe and sane environmental climate.

Dear Mr. Amold:
Enclosed please find a copy of my letter to Mr. Ivan Selin of the United States Regulatory Commission concern your consortium's request for permission to build a uranium enrichment facility in Homer, Louisiana.
in expressing my concern about this project I hope that you will consider other attematives to this project that would help our country to reverse its tendency to overproduce at the expense of our less fortunate citizens and our environment.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely, Ron Kersey t
