Dear Sir:
I'm writing a quick note to you as a concerned taxpayer and environmentalist.
I was recently made aware of the situation developing in NW Louisiana concerning the LES' plans to build an uranium enrichment plant in a relatively economically disadvantaged area.
As chairman of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, you are certainly in a position to affect the outcome of this proposal.
Personally, i
I would like to urge you to deny LES' application to construct this
]
l facility. The local communities of Forest Grove and Center Springs j
are opposed to this plan and in light of the negative environmental j
impact thic plant will have on the area, I tend to agree with their right to determine their destiny.
The fact that this is a mostly i
black and economically disadvantaged area of Louisiana leads me to I
believe that we should look more closely at the reasons why LES j
l wants to locate here.
