Dear Mr. Selin,
This letter is in regards to the :nvironmental hazards and associated problems concerning the Lou 1siana Energy Services uranium enrichment plant project.
Mr. Selin I urge you to advise the NRC licensing board to deny LES' application to construct a uranium enrichment facility in Homer, Louisiana.
I must remind you that the local communities of Forest Grove and Center Springs are adamantly opposed to having the LES plant located in their backyard.for good reasons.
Socially the LES project is irrespective of the communities people and studies indicate that an overwhelmingly dispro-l portionate number of toxic waste sites,-incinerators, and l
hazardous chemical and industrial operations are sited in poor, minority communicies.
Please do not let this become a trend.
I would hope you could take a look at the issue of environmental racism and any role it might have had in the 4
decision to locate the plant near the black communities.
We must not forget the environmental impacts the plant will have on the area of which are, contamination of watersheds which the people rely on for drinking water, and trans-portation of people in the event of an accident.
